Pittsburgh Watercolor SocietyPittsburgh Watercolor Society was founded in 1945 to celebrate the vitality and vision of this distinctive medium. The original membership of twenty was one of the first groups to be affiliated with the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Membership has grown to approximately 240 artists who explore a broad range of technique and expression in their work. Through workshops, demonstrations and discussion groups, members are encouraged to grow personally and professionally. New member screenings and general membership meetings are held in spring and autumn. The Society sponsors two yearly exhibits. "Waterworks" is a members-only exhibit. Members are invited to exhibit a single work of their own choosing; awards are selected by a noted local juror. "Aqueous Open" is an international juried exhibition. Entries are submitted by artists throughout the United States and beyond. The show is selected by a nationally known artist and juror who then travels to Pittsburgh to select the award winners and teach a week-long workshop. visit our website and click on "Artist Galleries" to see the work of many talented members. |
