Pour, presented by PCA Ceramic Access Members

September 10 – November 7

PCA Ceramics Access Members have created new works for Pour, an exhibit that integrates the act of pouring as its theme.

The pieces in this show range from functional to sculptural, with reference to pouring as either an abstract, conceptual, or literal starting point. In the case of functional pottery, the act of pouring infers the presence of spouts, lips, rims and funnel shapes to facilitate smooth transference. The act of drinking from a cup or other vessel can be viewed as an intimate form of pouring. The subconscious can play a role in the user’s selection of a vessel’s form and texture for a particular pouring task. Pouring also refers the free flow of information and emotions. This definition readily lends itself to abstraction and metaphor. There are several pieces in this collection which will ask the viewer for interpretation and insight.

Works included in this exhibition run the gamut of surface treatments, clay types, and firing methods.

The PCA Access program is designed to give experienced ceramic artists time and space to make their own work in a constructive, open and shared studio environment. Fourteen PCA Ceramic Access Members will have work in the show. Those included in the exhibition are:
